H.P. Zinker - Perseverance
recorded at The Magic Shop in NYC, 1996
released on Thrill Jockey Records
Talk about a garage trio that hits a full avant-metal-drone-jazz-core meltdown of Floydian proportion (Pink, that is)
in the space of a few deft guitar moves! That's the unstable sonic zone inhabited by Austrian-by-way-of-New York
sound fetishists HP Zinker. Perserverance is a blend of the retro-sarcasm that glides through the dreamy
opener "Invitation" and the sheer will to rock that fills the tempo defying sprint of "Warzone City".
The Zinkers are a bunch of flexible flyers who can step lightly through the squooshy funk of "Reason"
but are still able to rail and wail like Metallica smoking Ave.C angel dust with King Krimson.
Awesome! Send them the piles of cash that they richly deserve.
